Dashboard guide

Players

Players are the people playing your games, as Scoreboat knows them. They are not users of the dashboard: they sign in through your game.

Player pools

Players live in a player pool. Every game has exactly one pool, and a new game gets its own. Two games pointed at the same pool share players: an account made in one signs in to the other, and both see the same player ids. Choose a game's pool on its Configure page.

Players in the main side menu lists all your pools; Players in a game's menu opens that game's pool.

How players may sign in

Each pool chooses which ways in it accepts:

Setting What it allows
Guests Players may play without an account. Scoreboat gives each one a secret that their device keeps, and that secret is their only way back. A guest can later register, keeping everything they have done.
Passwords Players may register and sign in with a username and password, and optionally an email address for resetting a forgotten password.
Authenticated by you Your own server may vouch for players it has signed in itself, such as through a platform account, by their id in your system. See the assert endpoint.

Looking after players

The pool's page lists its players, newest first. Search by id, username, display name, email or your own id, and filter by active, banned, deleted or all. For each player you can:

  • Ban them, with a reason. A banned player cannot sign in, and their scores are hidden. Unban reverses it.
  • Sign out everywhere, which ends every session they have.
  • Delete them. A deleted player can be restored until they are deleted permanently through the API, which also removes everything they own.

Every player has a public id. It is safe to show, and it is what scores, files and rooms use to say who someone is.

Deleting a pool

A pool can only be deleted when no game uses it. Deleting it deletes every player in it, and cannot be undone.
